Ellerston Capital has led a $4.2 million investment round in drone technology company Aerologix.
Sydney-based Aerologix was founded in 2019 by ex-Qantas pilot Tom Caska and former technology consultant Rakesh Routhu and is a graduate of University of NSW accelerator program 10x. The company connects enterprises or individuals with drone pilots to carry out aerial imaging via its technology platform. Aerologix describes its service as “Uber for drones” and claims to have 10,000 drone operators signed up to provide services via its platform.
Sydney investment firm Nightingale Partners, which provided the company with pre-seed funding, supported the investment round.
Caska said the new funding would support expanding the company in Australian and in Asia and Europe in the near future.
Aerologix was recently onboarded onto the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) “digital sky platform” which regulates drone operations beyond line of sight.
Ellerston head of private investments Stuart Robertson said: “Aerologix benefits from being a key technology platform that enables drone pilots to complete complex data captures for organisations that have significant infrastructure.”
